August 30th, 2007

So, in the five minutes between this journal entry and me posting my last one, i thought i'd follow up on an idea that me and Mike have briefly discussed, and that was featured on [info]lj_spotlight

Basically, i'm going to make a list of stuff i'd like to do over summer, not necessarily big things, and not necessarily stuff i wouldn't normally do, just enough cool things to make my summer really good.  Summer starts for me on June 29th at about 3:30pm when i finish my last exam.

I thought i'd start a list tonight of stuff i'd like to do / i'm already planning to do.

  1. Make at least one more really really good friend, either someone i don't already know, or someone i'm friends with already but could get to know better.
  2. Go to Leeds Festival, and not sleep all weekend. August 23rd - 27th.
  3. Bet on a horse in a bookies, now that i'm 18. - June 29th
    • So yesterday i bet on a horse called Stocky Bumble in something about a steeplechase in Newcastle.  It was 16 -1 and din't win. infact, it might have come last.

  4. Turn up to buy the new Harry Potter book at midnight
  5. Go to the cinema 3 times
    • 1 - Die Hard 4
    • 2 - Harry Potter 5
    • 3 - Shrek 3
  6. Kiss a stranger
  7. Kiss a friend
  8. Go out into town one day wearing beach shorts, my star t-shirt, sunglasses and with flip flops on, and stand around drinking cocktails with little umbrellas in.
  9. Go to London, or a city i've never been too before.
  10. Watch a whole series of 24 in one go.
  11. Make a giant picture on the pavement with chalk.
  1. Go horse riding again
  2. Go on a small road trip.

Okay, this will do for now.  I'll post it again when i update it with more things to do, or when i actually get round to doing any of those things.

June 19th, 2007

Well, it was my birthday today. Technically that ended 11 minutes ago, but there you go. I was born at 8:26am, so I haven't actually been 18 for a whole day yet. I don't really feel any different to being 17. at all. I was worried last night that something might seem different, that i might seem like less of a kid, but i'm not, which is good.

I'm really looking forward to KIGH on Thursday with BECKYSTEPHLEIGHCAMERON and maybe Abbey? I think my Chemistry exams today went really well, there was only one question that i didn't know how to do, and i think i even managed to get some marks for that. I have 2 general studies exams first thing Wednesday morning, which are the most pointless things in the whole world, Physics synoptic on Thursday, and Biology on Friday. The only exam i really need to revise for now is Biology, and it's all pretty easy, i just need to learn it.

I've been trying to organise camping on Friday, and it seems like quite a few people are coming. I'm not sure exactly who as i can't keep up with everyone but it should be good none the less.

I keep getting strange text messages on my dodgy replacement phone, that i think are actually media messages that it can't display. I've gotten two in the last 10 minutes and i keep getting excited at the prospect of someone texting me at half midnight.

Tomorrow i'm going to be doing lots of Biology revision, and not much else i imagine. I'm trying to make myself go to bed a bit earlier tonight than usual so i'm up and ready before midday for once.

Tonight i also bought my Collision course festival ticket, and booked a family room in the travelodge round the corner, which should be fun and Steph said i could build a fort in there and everything. I reallllly hope it doesn't rain on Friday, or that if it does it only rains after we put the tents up. And that we have enough food and tents and torches and stuff. Oh well, it's going to be amazing anyway.

Also, a big thanks to everyone for making my birthday so great, even if you just said happy birthday, or sent me a text , called me, or commented me.

June 13th, 2007

Thanks t-mobile Your loan phone for whilst i get my vario fixed sets off security alarms in shop doorways, and thinks its 2004.

June 12th, 2007

On Sunday i went to my Chemistry teacher's garden party. I didn't realise she'd had such a huge amazing garden though. Me and Charlotte helped make drinks for all the elderly/not so elderly, and we saw my Physics teacher, and MC Chaplain, as well as some other people we knew which was nice. My teacher's garden is literally just built up the side of a hill - it's massive.

After everyone had gone me and Charlotte were invited to stay for tea along with the Chemistry technicians, Jean and Andrea. They're like a crime fighting comedy duo. Except they do Chemistry. They're well ace. My teacher's idea of a small buffet consisted of several chicken's, fish, quiches, loads of sausage rolls, salad, pork pies, cakes, scones, and about 4 litres of cream. It was really yummy though, and we stayed and chatted for a bit before going home.

My teacher's gardens hugeeee. And has nice views. Oh, and that's Charlotte.

On Monday Paul came up to mine and it was nice and sunny so we decided to go for a walk. He wouldn't let me wear my shorts though just because they had one tiny grass stain on. We bought 8 Mr. Men ice lollies and some ice cream, and walked up to Mike's. We headed off up to Greenbooth Reservoir to look for somewhere to camp next Friday. Most of the reservoir seemed to have dried up and they were digging some of it up a bit further upstream. We walked around the side nearest to Norden looking for somewhere to camp where we couldn't see any houses - with the idea being that they wouldn't be able to see or hear us. We had to cross the reservoir, which luckily was pretty dry about half way up so we walked down into it.

Here you can see where he lost a shoe.

All there was dividing the 2 sides was about a foot or two of water which we decided we could jump over. The ground round it however was mud, which we told Paul just as he was about to land in it. He got his shoe back eventually though, and we went to throw some rocks in the reservoir because we're really mature like that.

We also threw some ice cream in there too :)

They belong on baywatch or something.

After this we went and found a good camping spot, pretty close to the water, and a pretty sheer drop, but we figured anyone silly enough to fall off it probably has it coming. Then we tried to find our way back up to the path. First we caused an avalanche of rocks, and then we eventually ended up locked in some old abandoned industrial compound. Luckily someone had demolished a large portion of the brickwork from it and we found a way out pretty quickly.

We walked back down to Mike's and watched scrubs for a bit before he went off to play Hurling and Barton came to mine for a bit.

I also found this from the other day.

Steph loves surf.

Number 5 With A Bullet

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The other day Leigh and Steph invited me to come to Clitheroe on Friday. I spent about an hour messing around with the train ticket's website to find the cheapest way to get there, before deciding i'd only go if i bought a child's ticket. So, having done my physics exam, which was surprisingly easy i hopped on the 135 to Manchester so i could catch a train to Clitheroe. B purchased, as promised to myself, a kids ticket for the train and showed the ticket man my concessionary college pass along with my luminous orange ticket. I was pretty hungry so i found some mega squashed cheese sandwiches in my bag and ate them.

The weather was pretty much perfect and it looked really nice out in the countryside. When the train reached the amusingly named Ramsgreave & Wilpshire I saw Leigh on the platform. I thought she hadn't got on though as i hadn't seen her come down the carriage but she went to sit with a black man for a bit before coming to find me. We looked out the window at hills and i thought i saw a cow that had been bred with a sheep, but apparently it wasn't.

When we got to Clitheroe Steph, Becky and a boy called Nathan who looked startlingly like Postman Pat were waiting for us. Postman Nat bought Becky some alcohol as she seems to need it like cars need petrol and we found Cameron who Paul loves, and went to sit in the park, where Melissa showed up.

Leigh thought it'd be good to wear my jeans, belt and shoes. I'd like to point out that i put some shorts on, as there seem to be rumours going round that i was naked.

I don't normally drink Fosters. Leigh seems to think it's amazing.

Then Leigh got into experimental fashion ideas. She's writing a book about it - "100 uses for Joey's Jeans", followed by "50 uses for Joey's Belt" . Both will soon be available in all good bookshops.

Cameron showed how camp he was with his gay walk. I can see why Paul likes him so much.

Mel's hand is permanently stuck like this. No one knows if she actually meant to give a thumbs up.

Leigh eventually went the whole way and found one of my tshirts to wear too. I think she thinks she's an Egyptian in this photo. She says she's so cool it hurts.

I had some chicken from Tesco but it wasn't all properly cooked so i threw some away. A dog started eating it and died.

My amazing photography skillz. More of those to come later. Just watch out for the pictures where you can't really tell what it is you're looking at.

Next we walked through Clitheroe and Marc turned up. I'm doing really well with names so far, so i can get the rest wrong from now, okay? We walked down a long road past a Satanist Church that just wasn't a Stanist Church at all. We eventually found a big river and climbed down some steps and walked along it a bit and found somewhere to sit. Me Leigh and Marc wanted to cross the river to the little beach/broken glass area so we climbed some walls and went paddling a bit and eventually got there. Me and Leigh decided we were going to set up a little tribe next to the river, build a pirate ship and sail to The Amazon river.

Steph just took pictures of cows whilst we did all this.

Me and Leigh went paddling. We found some funny green bubbly stuff and Leigh touched it.

See, Mel's hand is stuck like that.Oh, and Steph lifts weights in her spare time.

Once we'd dried our feet off Leigh and Becky decided they needed the toilet.

Steph : Wow, the have waterfalls in the boy's toilets.
Joey : That's a urinal.

Oh, by now we had some more people. One of them MIGHT have been called Lee. And one of them was called Gay Party. Although this might have been Lee. I dont know. We walked up a bit and found some more of the river. I saw the Loch Ness monster, and we all saw two 2 headed ducks that were doing funny things to themselves. Oh, and by this point Chris had turned up. I'm well confused now.

I tried to kill this dog too but i'd ran out of chicken.

We walked a bit further and found a quarry where cubs go in the day and drunks go at night. apparently the cubs leave before it gets dark, so why would they be camping there? It's well stupid. Becky and Leigh went climbing and turned into giants with 100ft tall stone legs. Then there was some screaming and they were gone. Me and steph went to look for them but got bored of climbing so we just sat down for a bit till they came back.

Whilst Becky and Leigh were gone we stopped for some Cameron gay jokes and posey pictures. oh, and Tesco Cola.

We then walked into Clitheroe to get some tea, and i just bought more food at Tesco. Some Danish Swirl things, 2 Sausage Rolls and a packet of Bourbons. Leigh and Becky bought ice cream, which got thrown everywhere - on post boxes, the road, trees and mostly people's legs. We walked through Clitheroe up past Cameron's, where we stopped for drinks. I got to use the bottle opener on my shorts for the very first time. It was ace. We then walked through a field and towards Pendleton where we saw a car where dwarves were dogging in the boot.

Cameron needs help dressing himself. It's a wonder that he gets all his shirt buttons in the right holes.

We walked along some country roads and i took loads of dodgy photos in my new wave stylings, and everyone ate bourbons. Leigh only liked the chocolate creme inside and threw the biscuit bits back at me. So i started throwing mine at her.

I really like what i did to the roadsign. Maybe i'm a witch.

I told Steph to fly down this road and she did.

We walked on up through Pendleton towards Pendle Hill, but instead of listening to Steph and taking the right footpath we thought we'd carry on along the road. We found a big log thing to sit on next to a field full of cows. At some point we'd picked up a guy called Joe, we called him Fred for a bit as his name was similar to mine. He got all the cows to come and make line infront of him and he kept scaring them off. One of the cows tried to jump on another cow's back which was weird as they were all girls. Clitheroe obviously has lesbian cows.

Our log thing.

Becky and Mel somehow got a lift up Pendle Hill as they really wanted to find a cattle grid. They found one and took some photos.

They came back just in time for the sun setting and we thought we'd re-enact POTC 3 and tip the world/boat upside down by running from one side of the road to the other. It was strangely fun, but when the sun went down there wasn't a green flash so we obviously did something wrong.

These two slept together.

Me and Steph thought it'd be fun to lie down in the road, and she looks like Patrick Starfish.

Me and Leigh swapped some more clothes around and i ended up wearing her jumper with something about Oli Sykes dropping dead on it. It was cool, and a pretty good fit.

After this we walked back to Clitheroe which took a lot less time than it took to get there, and only involved about 50 photos, but i don't know where they are. We dropped Cameron off at his house and found all the ice cream was still on the post box, trees and floor. We walked through the park near the castle to the playground and had a chat with a community support officer as thought james was dead. I raced Steph to the top of the big spider's web thing and i won kind of. I didn't want to go right to the top, but i got near enough first.

We found a disabled roundabout that you can put wheelchairs in and spin round. It sounded more like torture to me. We walked back through Clitheroe to Becky's past a talking school which was a bit weird and watched some tv for a bit whilst we had Vimto. Leigh's eyes were really red, she might have turned into a witch at some point when we were near Pendle Hill. We thought it would be a great idea to try and fit 4 people in a single bed, so I got in at one end, and Leigh and Steph at the other. Becky didn't come back though, and slept in her own bed, accidentally falling asleep on a drawing pin.

Me, Steph and Leigh were ridiculously hyper and couldn't stop laughing. There were paralolagrams flying about everywhere, which is this new shape me and Steph came up with. Leigh liked my feet a lot and bit my toes several times, and tried to fit all her fingers between all my toes, which really really hurt. Steph sprawled out in the bed taking up most of the room, so me and Leigh had to sleep squashed against the wall.

Leigh had an epileptic fit, which was odd as she doesn't have epilepsy, and then i had one when people kept touching my feet. This was also odd as i don't have epilepsy either. Eventually the paralolagrams died down, but i don't think i slept much as Leigh kept kicking me in the face, possibly without realising.

When we woke up Leigh and Steph thought it'd be good to cut my toes off and give them away as free gifts in a cereal called joey-oes. Like Joey's Toes, but different. There were loads more paralolagrams about, and i got pushed out of bed and dragged Leigh off by her feet. We ended up abusing each other on the floor for about an hour, before she had to go get a shower to go to work.
We all had had toast on beans, which was an amazing breakfast. Then Leigh left so the rest of us watched the Mr Bean film on Sky. Then we sat in Becky 's room where we talked for a bit. Becky tried to make her unicorn do dirty things with a hairbrush, and i used ions to dry my hair. I don't know what they did, but my hair turned out dry so it was okay.

After a bit we walked into Clitheroe and i got some Eccles Cakes as i was in Lancashire, even though i just realised Eccles is in Manchester, and i should have bought Chorley cakes instead, even though they aren't as nice. We sat on the park for a bit and saw Mark, and then i went to get my train which came late. Silly trains. I got back home hours later as the bus was being stupid.

June 6th, 2007

My day in pictures. In case anyone's wondering my header for this post is Saves The Day lyrics - Rocks Tonic Juice Magic.

Me on my way back from college. By this point i remembered i was supposed to be taking photos. Still, only 11am, which is usually when i wake up. My exam was so easy for anyone that cares. I love organic chemistry. (more than you)

I cooked lunch and paul came round and ate half of it. It turns out he doesn't like cheese on super noodles, especially bacon ones.

This man was infront of us on the bus, taking a long time to read the article about giving children the sex talk. There wasn't a crazed Scotsman on the bus this time much to our disappointment.

Lots of people on Oxford Road. Paul reallllly liked the black guy, think it was his shirt. We'd gotten the free bus because were lazy and walked up to get tickets from the Academy because i don't like paying booking fees.

We tried to take a picture of the ice cream van but the black man that Paul likes was in the way.

Our picnic in Whitworth Park after we got Wombats tickets. I tried to get some GCH ones too but they'd sold out. The flyer from the academy seemed to think Plain White Tees and Paramore were going to announce shows soon.

We went to Sayers/Hampsons/Burneys to get pasties and drinks, then to tesco where i got some Hula Hoops and Teeth and Lips sweets. Paul actually had a tantrum in the shop because he couldn't find "those marshmallowy biscuit type things". He eventually bought a raspberry sponge cake instead and we headed over to Whitworth Park to eat our food.

These pictures are all self explanatory.

Paul only managed two bites of this.

This was my idea. We made a man out of the stuff we had. I think Paul pretended he didn't know me at this point.

After this one of two things happened. I forgot abut pictures for a few hours, or my phone ran out of film - possibly both. We went back into Manchester on a sticky bus and went to look for beachwear, which, lets face it, was the reason we'd come. I found some shorts with flamingos on, but decided they were too plain otherwise, so bought some funky black and white ones, whilst Paul spent two hours trying on two pairs in Topman, he eventually got some too. I got some flip flops as well just for the hell of it really, and bought some luminous card with Paul.

The bus home took absolutely ages and now i'm eating tea - battered fish fingers and potato waffles - yummy!

I'm going out later to Siberia with Mike so i'll take some more photos. I might even wear my shorts and there's a tiny chance i'll be crazy enough to go in flip flops. Tomorrow i need to revise for my physics exam on Friday, and then spend the weekend revising for other exams too.

June 5th, 2007

So, here i am again, actually updating my journal on a frequent basis, having made everyone else update theirs who don't keep it up to date, and making several new people sign up just because i'd like to pry into their lives a bit more.

I've decided i'm going to name each of my entries after a song, either that actually means something (unlikely, i know), is a good song, or just has a cool name. Today's is Glassjaw, as they're playing a one off UK show that i probably can't afford to go too, and don't know if i want too. The only thing is, if i don't go i'll regret it later.

Having read Paul's LJ entry for today i've decided that i'm going to photograph my entire day tomorrow, and come up with catchphrases as witty as his, such as "Afro Caribbean people use public transport too" and "the shadow man must have followed me home from town". It'll be extra fun as after my chemistry exam me and Paul are going to go to Manchester and buy Wombat's tickets, and some beachwear. Speaking of beaches, Cathedral Gardens in Manchester is being turned into one pretty soon for more than a month. Should be fun. And a chance to show off our beachwear.

Yesterday i woke up pretty early and did some revision. I can't really remember where the bulk of my day went, but at about 9pm me and Mike went for a walk to scout out somewhere to camp for my birthday. We went up to the farms behind my house, but there are too many farmhouses around (I thought they;'d only have one!), and then if we went much further we ended up back in civilization. So as long as i don't die of hay fever we might be going to look at Greenbooth instead as it seems a much better option, and we're less likely to get caught.

Today i got up pretty early as well, which is good as i've been getting up at midday recently and need to be up tomorrow for 7. I went into college to revise with Sobia/Skhan/SobiaKhan/Hermione/Serbia, and finished my chemistry mod 4 notes and did a past paper which i got one off full marks in, because in my isomerism essay i didn't actually say what isomerism was - just why it was useful for octane in petrol. fun stuff. We ended up playing football for most of the afternoon with Sobia(see other names above) and her geeky friends. She accidentally took Vincent's phone home with her though so she could read his text messages or something.

Peter was in the interchange, and we got the bus back and walked home, which was fun as it's so nice outside and i was in a pretty good & talkative mood.

Tomorrow i've got to be in college at 9, for my Chemistry mod 2 resit, which i got one off an A in last time, which seems really easy now that i've done A2 Chemistry as well. Tomorrow night i think Me, Mike and possibly Tom/Lewis are going to Siberia in Bury for cheap drinks and a long walk home. Yes, all 6.4 miles.

I realised the other day that sometimes just putting in a tiny bit of effort, just letting someone know you care at some level, can go a long way. Even if it comes from the most unexpected of places. :)

June 3rd, 2007

I thought i'd sort out my journal today, maybe pick a new layout, change the colours, theme, layout etc. I sent about half an hour browsing through different styles i could have, before deciding on the one i liked the most. A pretty simple design in green, which turned out to be the one i'm already using. So, that was a waste of time.

However, i thought i'd add a new user picture, as the one of my last year looking 13 isn't really all that flattering. So, now i have a nice new picture of me, which against a white background looks like there is nothing behind me, but when over something darker, so there is less contrast, i appear to be wearing a hood, and have my bed behind me. I guess i like the picture, as it appears differently at different times.

Next, i thought i'd better change my profile, remove a few interests i'm no longer so interested in, change the website link to my new myspace, and write a short biography on it - not about me, but about my livejournal.

"This is a small biography of my journal , not me. I'm trying to write an honest, open, journal that includes pretty much everything. However, i find it really difficult, and don't know to what tone my journal should be set, or who could be reading it, what point of view it should be from etc. What you'll probably find is a sketchy account of a few events in my life, small glimpses at best, until i learn how to approach writing this properly. Hopefully, one day i can look back at this biography and think, "na, its not like that now."

I think it sums up what i want to achieve with this journal, to have a realistic account of how my life has been that i can look back on when i'm older. Sadly at the moment, my journal is far from realistic, honest or open, with huge gaping omissions that i should have written about properly at the time, as i can no longer write in depth about things that happened more than a few days ago.

On Friday i went into town to meet Chelsea, Spankie, Tom and Nicky. I wasn't all too sure why we were going but i needed a ticket for kids in glass houses, and didn't feel like paying the price of the ticket itself in additional postage and booking fees so i thought i might as well go and buy one myself. I arrived in town half an hour late, due to a combination of the time the bus was supposed to come at (which would make me 20 minutes late) and the time it actually showed up at. (20 minutes after it should have) Whilst waiting for Chelsea i saw Charlotte J, who i haven't seen for a while. She was shopping, but hadn't appeared to have bought anything. I suggested that if she didn't really want anything, she should just steal it, and then if she didn't like it she could get rid of it without feeling bad about having spent the money.

Chelsea showed up pretty soon after, and we went to get my ticket after we finally found a cash machine that worked. We went to meet Spankie, Tom and Nicky at McDonald's and went to get Spankie's mum a birthday present. Half an hour later we had a 3 foot tall birthday card, which he promptly managed to lose somewhere, possibly outside a takeaway when we sat down.

We went and got some alcohol, and then went to Franky and Benny's for some pizza. We ended up sat upstairs on our own, which meant we didn't have to pay for alcoholic drinks.*hint hint*

The pictures on the wall in there always make me laugh. For every branch of a chain restaurant to have hundreds of small pictures in black and white of 1930's American boxers and Football players is pretty odd. They sit there on the wall, almost a bit out of place, all different sizes, and in different frames. I suppose they add to the atmosphere, along with the usual wonderful non stop jazz and blues music which gives the place a pretty laid back feel to it.

Anyway, we had 2 huge pizzas between us, and then wandered across town and found somewhere to sit and drink, as the weather was nice. Surprisingly, the police didn't see us once, despite being in a pretty open place and we had a few drinks and talked about music and Nicky's party over the summer, which we decided we were turning up too as rich kids - just to fit in.

I ended up getting the bus back pretty early, about 9:30, as i had to catch the bus home from bury. I saw Ro from college eon the bus on the way back, and we had a chat till she had to get off. Whilst i'd not been in Bury for a few days someone obviously thought it'd be good to rearrange the interchange after 7pm, so i ended up walking round for 5 minutes trying to find where my bus would go from.

I realise that i've written quite a lot now, and this is my second entry in a few days. Maybe it's a start towards having a proper journal for once.

Now i need to get some lunch, and then finish off my chemistry revision before i start on physics. Biology will just have to wait for now.

The start of summer

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, i'm starting my final lot of exams for college on wednesday with a chemistry mod 2 resit for which i've already done loads of work and should do really well in. Then i have physics, which ive done quite a bit of work for already a few days later, and then over the 2 weeks after that i have my proper A2 exams including the worlds most ridiculous physics synoptic paper that no one seems to be able to do.

After that i can do what i want allll summer, obviously depending on how much money i have left. I'm down to 500 now, but it should be enough if i dont spend too much each week, and then in September i'll get my student loan to live off instead. It looks pretty certain i'm going to Leeds university to do chemistry, which i'm really excited about as i'll be living on my own, and wont have to do physics or biology and i'll get to meet loads of new people whilst still having a few old friends around.

And then there's Leeds festival in August, which i cant wait for, i get to see Brand New again, and spend 4 nights without sleep getting very drunk and seeing loads of great bands with my friends, and loads of shit bands with my friends too!

For my birthday (18 days away you know!) we're all going somewhere on the 22nd June, the friday my exams finish and the end of the week my birthday falls in. We're either going to go somewhere in Manchester, which will go disastorously due to the number of under 18's coming, or maybe go camping somewhere. Although, i've kind of realised now that Sobia is going to be on a plane to America, and Cam will already be there, which will be a bit rubbish.

Today i'm going into town with Chelsea, Spankie and Tom, i'm not sure what were doing but it'll no doubt hbe hilarious and involve many, many American basketball stars as usual. I need to buy my kids in glass houses ticket too from the box office, which is annoying as theres no where i can buy one without paying a stupid booking fee, which i've gotten used to not paying at the academy now.

I've realised that this month i have about 25 pounds of credit to use on my phone by June 7th, so if anyone feels like 250 texts, just let me know.

So, i thought it was finally time to update my livejournal about everything thats been going on. Whilst alot of people like to update they're journal much more regularly than me, i like to think that when i do update mine i have something great to write. unfortunately this isnt usually the case. Anyway , i think this is reasonably interesting compared to practically every other journal update ive ever written, except possibly the one with the picture of mike stood next to a life size bee in a take away at 1am.

So, where to start? January i suppose. This was only just over a month ago and i cant seem to remember all that much of it, except seeing Houston Calls with Hellogoodbye, and a Dave Melillo and Hit The Lights headline show due to shaant having laryngitis or something. I also did lots of exams which went okay and went to lots of parties which also went okay.

So, February. This is much more interesting and about 100 times longer. (maybe more?) Basically, from about Christmas i had been counting down the days till i got to see brand new, checking they're website way too much and listening to them probably ten times as much as i listened to all my other music put together. When february 6th finally came around (after not sleeping at all on February 5th in excitement) i skipped my last lesson at college to go hang out outside the Apollo at about 2pm with Cam, her friend and some weird bloke that no one really liked. It was absolutely freezing, and they're was practically no one else there at 2pm. or 3pm. or 4pm.

Anyway, after a nice (first time for everything) McDonalds, and some amusing signs with "tortoises going fast" and "birdies going cheep" written on them, Vin finally came out to talk to us. I asked him a question about lyrics in untitled, which he didn't really have a clue about, but he did tell me about how they wrote the song, which was cool. He seemed pretty bemused that we'd turned up so early to meet his little band playing some show thousands of miles away from where they live, and after realising i had nothing to get signed, ended up getting my debit card signed. Hopefully i wont be needing to show it to anyone in a bank anytime soon. None of the rest of the band came out to talk to us (which in my experience, over 5 hours is really weird) but we did get to listen to the soundcheck through the back doors of the Apollo. They played through Welcome To Bangkok twice, Jesus, Degausser. Not The Sun and Handcuffs. Me and Cam got pretty excited that we got to hear Not the Sun and Handcuffs before practically anyone else in the UK, whilst everyone else seemed unappreciative. It seems strange to me how big Brand New have got, yet how small they wish to remain. It's almost as if they would rather be sat at home doing nothing all day than being out here playing their wonderful music for us.

After hassling mewithoutyou's merch guy for a bit about tour posters we decided to cue up. There were already a few people in front of us so we ended up on the second row back (having gotten a lovely red tour poster), but the people infront of us were tiny so it didn't matter. Brand New played through their set in chronological order, 5 songs from your favourite weapon, all of deja entendu, minus good to know, and then 5 songs from the new album too, including welcome to bangkok, the first time it had ever been played live.

After the show i had to wait ages for a taxi, and had to give the taxi driver directions to where we were as he obviously wasnt very good at his job. When i got home i spent about ten minutes trying to get my tour poster to stay on my wall as it had been rolled up, and kept falling off. Anyway, enough about being in manchester...

Having failed to get tickets to +44, i went to see gym class heroes on Friday 9th February with Paul Barton. We ate a really good subway, courtesy of my vouchers and then went to the gig. I think its pretty important to talk about what i eat in my journal. Hangar 18 were funny, not really in a good way. Madina lake were pretty good, and gym class were pretty exceptional. We spent about 2 hours trying to get home, missing all kinds of buses and trains in the process, eventually getting home at 1am and watching family guy.

Sunday (11th) morning i woke up at about 6am, ridiculously excited for seeing brand new again. I dont really like going long distances on my own (e.g., making my own way to leeds last year with about 100kg of stuff), so luckily i was getting the coach down with Tom to birmingham, and meeting Cam there (after she'd finished work) and meeting becka at the venue. When we got to birmingham, we thought it'd be good to walk to our travelodge, which took about half an hour and involved lots of dual carriageways and big junctions, and asking peopel with lairy brummy accents which way to go. When we did get to the travelodge (conveniently opposite Sainsbury's Local, which are literally round every corner in the south) we found we had a nice big room, but other than that the facilities basically consisted of 1 vending machine. Luckily we were only staying one night. After buying some nice tea of pre grated cheese and tortilla wraps, 26 packets fo crisps and 5 bottles of buck's fizz (Tom's idea) I called for a taxi, and after great difficulty in talking to someone from Birmingham managed to order one to the academy. Once we got there we met Becka and went inside.

The venue itself is pretty cool but it has a pretty big problem in being sideways, seemingly like most southern venues. The problem was that the stage wasn't anywhere near as big as the width of the room, so people at the sides couldn't see that well, unless they were tall like me. Anyway, we tried to get to the front but got so squashed that we had to go back after about 5 minutes - and even that seemed ridiculously hard. After a few pints of water we went to stand at the side, where i could see pretty well, but Becca and Cam couldn't really. Everyone in the venue seemed to be really bored, and not bothered about Brand New. Needless to say we (especially Becka) were pretty into it, and having travelled quite a way for the show didn't want it ruining by a load of boring southern posers. We did get a lot of funny looks singing along, whilst everyone near us just stood around looking gormless, but i can honestly say i don't care. I mean, why should I? It's not as if im ever likely to see any of those people again, and i don't know any of them so i'll act as stupidly as i want. Brand New played the same set as Manchester, but they seemed much more lively in Birmingham. Afterwards, we went back to the travelodge, and built a fort out of the bed sofa, pull out bed and all the sheets we had. Whilst me and Becka had a bottle of Buck's Fizz between us, tom proceeded to drink 3 and a half bottles of it, mostly whilst lying in the bathtub.

I woke up the next morning (well i didn't as i hadn't been asleep really) to find Tom drinking the remnants of a bottle of Buck's Fizz, which he had previously found out didn't taste too good after being boiled in a kettle. We had about an hour to get ready, and Tom thought he'd make 4 packets of 8p instant noodles in his lunchbox, as we didn't have any plates or bowls. It turns out his lunchbox had a small hole in it, so the noodle water started to go everywhere. He ended up putting it all in the bin, which looked really horrible. Becka tidied up a bit, turning the sofa the right way, but the rest of us didn't really bother. Tom stacked up his Buck's Fizz bottles on the window sill for some poor cleaner to find, and took the final one with him to drink in the taxi. (yes, he was drinking at 10am) Tom got his coach back to Manchester, drinking Buck's Fizz out of a Pepsi bottle on the way, whilst Me, Cam and Becka got on the coach to London.

Cam was sat on her own watching a DVD on her Mac, and had two horribly obese, lairy brummy children with proper brummy accents sat behind her. Their parents, who we're equally vile were sat the back, and seemed to have a constant supply of processed food going towards their already tubby children. Anyway, after about ten minutes on teh coach, one of the kids, no older than ten stands up and starts watching Cam's DVD over her shoulder. The DVD wasn't exactly child friendly, but non the less, this boy of no more than ten, who i've jsut realised may have been that one on the news who weighed 16 stone, carried on watching this DVD on and off for about an hour and a half. I kept texting Cam telling her to turn round, but he always sat down just before she did. The smaller child wouldn't turn teh sound on his PSP down, and their Mum couldn't help but have loud brash speakerphone conversations. They were probably the worst family i've ever seen, and i hope somehow they read this.

Becka carried on finishing my sentences with Brand New lyrics , and sang Car most of the way to London which was nice. When we finally got to London we met Mike, and found a sign for coaches on the coach station floor in huge letters reading "dead slow", which whilst us northerners found completely normal, Becka found funny because aparantly saying dead before things is really odd, which, when i think about it is probably true.

Feel free to take a break reading this just about here, as according to word count its already 1700 words long.

Back to London... Becka decided it was probably best to go home for at least one night, and went back to hers, whilst we went to find our Travelodge. When they said City Airport, they really wern't joking. Luckily we had some lovely soundproof windows which seemed to block out the constant noise of planes quite well, which is good as we were actually about 20 metres from the airport. This travelodge was really nice, the lifts actually came within five minutes of pressing the button, and their was a nice, reasonably priced bar, and a restaraunt and some other stuff. Round the corner we later found the Esso garage that Me, Tom, Sinead and BacCA had walked to in September from the next travelodge, althuogh thats a stpry in itself.

Monday night we went out for a Chinese, which, whilst nice and filling, wasn't all that appetising, and the waiters seemed pretty drunk. After that we went for a walk around Central London, and had a look in a few shops which was fun. when we got back me and Mike made a fort (again), and Mike slept in it whilst I finally managed to sleep in a bed for once. Me and Cam decorated the walls with food menus, a bible (which she wrote notes in for the next peopel to stay), our signs that we made, "Hello, I'm a Joey", and, "Hello, I'm a Cam", and the sign we'd taken from Birmingham academy about Brand New.

After a good nights sleep we woke up and headed over Hammersmith, where alot more people were queing up really early for Brand New than had been in Manchester. Becka was pretty near the front of the que, but her friend seemed pretty pissed off that we were pushing in with them. We did bring some food with us though from Tesco, and had a small picnic which we shared. Becka also had fig roles which made me very very happy indeed. Mike went off to meet Sinead off her coach, whilst me and Cam que'd up in the cold. It took Mike and Sinead absolutely ages to get across London and back, and they only arrived back at about 6:30. I spent about 4 hours having the piss taken out of my accent by Becka and her friends which was pretty funny really. Mike decided to sell his ticket to a tout, and went to meet his cousin, whilst Sinead pushed in right at the front of the que infront of 8000 other people. good for her.

When we got inside, we all had to sit on the floor, but Sinead and Cam were being silly sat on the far right, whilst i was sat right in the middle with Becka. Mewithoutyou were actually okay that night, as they'd all had haircuts since Manchester, even Cam's Dad who was playing drums, although he had decided to wear a vest that night which was a step in the wrong direction. Brand New all came on for Mewithoutyou's last song, which was cool, and Brand New, although playing the same set again, were absolutely amazing. Better than anything i'd ever seen before. I was right at the front, and got loads of great photos. After the show we had to get Becka's bag, and ended up missing the train back to hers, so we just about made it back to the travelodge where thankfully Cam was still awake to let us in. We ended up on the last tube and the last bus so its pretty lucky that we got back at all. It turns out that Mike had decided to stay at his cousins that night, and as Cam and Sinead we're already falling asleep in the bed, Me and Becka decided to sleep in the fort, although she got the comfier side. At some point Cam had also written, "Cameron stay sleep in bed" on her pillow, and subsequently the next day wouldn't get out of bed for a while.

The next day (Valentine's Day), we all went into London to go shopping for a bit, and i bought everyone Pizza which was very nice of me indeed. After that we went shopping, Mike Cam and Sinead went off together whilst me and Becka went to look for something for me to wear as i hadn't brought enough clothes with me. I ended up buying a cool tshirt with a band of animals on it, and a plain blue hoody. Eventually Becka had to get the tube back to Canning Town to get a lift home with her Dad, and i was so gutted when she left. :(

Soon after that we met Steph at Bond Street and headed to St. James's Park to look at Pelicans. Unfortunately the Pelican's were all on their little island, as it was getting pretty late. We did however see a really friendly and probably rabid squirrel, lots of geese, birds that appeared to have tip-ex on their faces and blu-tac on their feet, white swans, ethnically diverse swans and strange red crested birds. After this, we walked Cam and Steph to the Coach Station and they got the coach back. We then thought it'd be pretty cool to turn up at the Brit Awards, which is exactly what we did. We walked into the red carpet bit, where you always see screaming fans on TV, although it was getting near the end of the arrivals and we only saw Sharon Osbourne, who wouldn't tell me why she always looked angry, and Louie Walsh, who wouldn't tell me why he always looked so happy. After briefly being at the Brit Awards, we got on the wrong tube, and ended up spending a while finding the right one again. I cant express how much i love the tube, even when on the wrong one. It's so good, a train every two minutes, no traffic, not usually that full - practically amazing. And when they are full, it's pretty funny trying to share a bag of grapes across a carriage.

Eventually we ended up back at the travelodge, still with all our signs above the beds, and had a few drinks before going to sleep.

On Thursday Mike was supposed to go home, but due to "severe delays on the cicle line" ended up missing his coach and coming back to the travelodge before having to explain to work why he wouldn't be in tomorrow. When we were ready to go, we went to the Victoria and Albert museum for Sinead to look at some posters. She seemed very very impressed with them. We then tried to get cheap food in South Kensington, which we found pretty hard, but had some nice Baguettes from a shop by the station. See, i'm still mentioning what i eat. I really wanted to go and look at dinosaurs, so we went to the natural history museum which was pretty good, except for how slowly people walk when dinosaurs are involved. Then we looked at whales and stuff before going back to the hotel to get the Lostprophets tickets. We ended up taking quite a while, so missed most of KIGH, but not all of them, which i was pleased about. Enter Shikari were good, and so were Lostpropets, and i've decided i really like all the London venues i've been too, as unlike the ones in Manchester, they're kind of on their side and have wide stages, making it seem smaller and so that everyone can see.

Whilst we were at Lostprophets Mike went somewhere and got quite drunk, and talked to a nice foreign man about a clubnight. Me and Sinead spent about 30 minutes trying to get out of the Astoria, before going for McDonalds with Mike. We then went to the club this guy had been advertising, except i couldn't get in as i didn't have any I.D. , whilst Mike and Sinead did. So we went back to the hotel instead, which was just as well really as i had said i'd meet Becca at 9am the next morning at Canning Town so i could see her again before i went home.

I was ridiculously tired the next day when i got to Canning Town, having remembered most of my stuff, including wall decorations. I met Becka, but we had to wait half an hour to be able to get off peak kid's tickets for the tube. When we finally did, we decided to go to St. James's Park again so i could see the pelicans properly. It was a really nice day, and i got to sit on a bench with a Pelican and spend loas of time with Becka which was really great. It all seemed pretty perfect. Then we went for a wander round central London, not too sure on the specifics of where, before meeting Mike and Sinead to get the coach home. The coach back decided to detour through the greenery of the surrounding area of Milton Keynes, and Mike somehow managed to avoid getting a fine on the met on the way back from Manchester.

So yeah, basically, i had quite a good time, but now really miss Becka. I managed to spend way more money than i hoped i would, but did actually manage to take something home with me that i'd bought, namely a cheesy "I <3 London" t-shirt. I have however already booked my coach ticket's for going back to London to see Becka for a week in Easter, which i can't wait for. It also happens to coincide with the Straylight Run Tour.

I've decided i'm quiting my job in just under a month, so only 7 more shifts for me left ever at Morrisons. I've applied for loads of new jobs, not that i really need one as i have plenty of money for the summer.

At the moment i'm looking forward too...

Leeds Festival
Going To London at easter
Brand New at Give It A Name
Seeing Becka again(probably more than anything)
The Summer

Living on my own

I've only got 8 more weeks in college, which in a way is pretty sad, but i'll be glad to have finished, and once my exams are out of the way i can do whatever i want too all summer, and then move to Leeds and have loads of fun there for at least four years of my life.

Also, before i forget Mike now has a fan club consisting of people called Becca. Hopefully it'll have a myspace soon so you can keep track of Mikes love life using the wonders of the internet.

I've probably written enough now.

2007

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, i dont honestly want to talk about 2006.

All the important stuff went wrong, which makes me pretty thankful its only the little things that matter.

I did however meet loads of great people, had some great times, went to lots of parties and various other cliche activities that make years good.

However, as we all know that 2005 was pretty much the peak of my life so far, 2006 wasnt quite as good as that.

My new years resolution is to wear matching socks as much as possible. It got off to a bad start today when i was ironically wearing my trying is the first step towards failure socks, and i accidentally put one foot in some beer. Anyway, i had to change ONE sock, so there wasnt much i could do except put a different one on.

Also, i'm not gonna screw up ALL my relationships this year, and im gonna make even more friends, go to even more gigs than this year, move out, go to university, go to even MORE parties, become even more full of myself etc.

I might even try and write even longer, more frequent livejournal posts that dont comprise pictures of bees in takeaways and other oddities.

I cant wait till i get to go to london again with tom(pay me), sinead and becc0 to see brand new, gym class heroes etc. Also, aparantly im going to russia at the end of june which sounds quite good - im goin gto steal a bauble. No, not a christmas tree decoration, the things on the top of russian churches. I cant wait for leeds 07, if its anywhere near as good as Leeds 06 was, then its going to be the best time of my life all over again. Im also pretty excited for going to university, moving out, going to a new city (leeds?), meeting new people, getting drunk more often etc.

Today, i watched seabiscuit, which is suprisingly good to say its a film about horseriding during the great depression in America, and has a place called Pimlico in it. (me and tom went there once) I also went to hang with matt for a bit - hes pretty damn cool.

Tomorrow im going to Kats party, but i dont know how im getting home yet.

Anyway

2007? < 2005 < 2006

2006 has gone way too quick

its funny how things turn out.

everythings okay i guess, but i preferred 2005 when things just made sense and i didnt need to explain everything i did, or take everything so seriously. i dont want to grow up anymore.
